Liam comes home

Karen McCullough Posted on November 21, 2011 by Karen McCulloughNovember 21, 2011

He’s still a bit under five pounds and three weeks away from his original due date, but the doctors felt he was doing well enough to release him.

Projects I’m working on…

Karen McCullough Posted on November 10, 2011 by Karen McCulloughNovember 8, 2011

I’ve got several things going on right now:

1. I’m scanning my older Avalon Books in to get them ready to put up for sale in electronic format.

2. I’m working on a series of ebooks to show people how to do their own ebook covers.  The first, using free PC software Paint.NET is now available at Amazon.

3. And I’m working on the sequel to A GIFT FOR MURDER, tentatively titled, WIRED FOR MURDER.  You can track my progress with the widget to the right.  (Motivation for me!)

Update on Grandson

Karen McCullough Posted on November 8, 2011 by Karen McCulloughNovember 8, 2011

William continues to thrive!  He’s two inches longer than he was at birth and is now over four pounds.  Doctor says he’ll likely be going home the end of this week or early next week.  He’s off oxygen completely and out of the incubator, into an open crib.  The only remaining hurdle is transitioning him to being fed completely by bottle and breast.  Right now he takes either enthusiastically but tires out and falls asleep quickly.

Busy weekend

Karen McCullough Posted on October 31, 2011 by Karen McCulloughOctober 31, 2011

I’ve had a pretty big weekend – I got a novel that’s been hanging around my hard drive for quite a while formatted and uploaded to the main epublisher sites.  Magic, Murder and Microcircuits is now available at:

Amazon Kindle Edition
Nook Edition
Order from Smashwords

Blurb: A powerful wizard with a physics degree and a checkered past invents a  shield to ensure he’ll never again be tortured almost to death.

The wizarding powers-that-be fear the repercussions of such a device and send  his former girlfriend, an accomplished wizard herself, to retrieve the device  or destroy it.

When the shield is stolen by the magical mafia, Ilene McConnell and Michael  Morgan have to set aside their differences and work together to recover it.  Michael claims he needs the device as insurance against the kind of injury and  injustice he suffered once before. Ilene maintains its potential to upset the  delicate balance of power makes it too dangerous and that it needs to be  destroyed. But none of that will matter if they can’t retrieve it before a ruthless,  powerful wizard learns how to use it for his own ends.

More on Baby:

On the personal front, my grandson continues to gain weight, although that has fluctuated some since they’re trying to transition him from the feeding tube to breast and bottle.  But they’ve moved him to an open crib from the incubator and he’s breathing completely on his own.

Visiting my new grandson

Karen McCullough Posted on October 13, 2011 by Karen McCulloughOctober 13, 2011

I finally managed to get rid of a cold that has plagued me since around the time my new grandson was born, so I hopped a plane to Indiana!  He’s still tiny, but has gained a few ounces and is closing in on three pounds. His name is William, but they call him Liam.

Why I’ve been so quiet lately…

Karen McCullough Posted on October 4, 2011 by Karen McCulloughOctober 4, 2011

My newest grandchild, William Michael Gerdon was born a few days ago.  He’s ten weeks premature since my daughter had a complicated pregnancy, and he’s tiny at 2 lbs. 10 oz., but so far he’s holding his own.  He’s breathing on his own with just a little oxygen support.

Bumper sticker sighting

Karen McCullough Posted on October 2, 2011 by Karen McCulloughOctober 2, 2011

This one just struck my funny bone, when we pulled up behind this car in a McDonald’s drive-through:

I know the quality isn’t great since I took it with my phone camera through the windshield in early morning light.  It says, “HONK if parts fall off.”

News for September

Karen McCullough Posted on September 28, 2011 by Karen McCulloughOctober 9, 2011

Lots of interesting things coming up in the next month:

I’ll be teaching an online class on Creating Your Own Author Website using WordPress in the month of October. Click here for more information and registration .

My October paranormal release has a new title: Magic, Murder and Microcircuits!  For blurb and excerpt, click here.

I’ve done a number of ebook covers for other authors, and I’m working on creating a set of instructional booklets on how to create your own ebook cover using free software, or other programs you might already have.  The first one is for Paint.NET, a free image-manipulation program for PC computers.  You can order it from Amazon.com.  More will be following soon and in additional formats.

Finally, I’m working on scanning in my backlist Avalon books to make them available in electronic editions.  The first one, The Night Prowlers, should be available soon!

Way Behind

Karen McCullough Posted on July 16, 2011 by Karen McCulloughJuly 16, 2011

Wow… I’m behind.  I’ve got lots to add too, but it will take me a bit to catch up.

First up, though: I just added a few new pens to my Pens page on the MarketCenterMysteries.com site.

Check it out here.  If you have an interesting promotional pen you’d like me to feature, check this page for directions!
