The oldest boy is 8; the youngest is 2.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1976\" src=\"https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading1.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>And I\u2019m proud to say that they all love reading. Only the oldest one actually reads on his own, but he basically taught himself at age three. He\u2019d read all of <em>Winnie-the-Pooh<\/em> by the time he was four. The six-year-old and four-year-old are both learning to read now.<\/p>\n<p>But they all love stories and encountering new things. Whenever I visit, I try to bring some new books for them and they\u2019re always eager for them. And it\u2019s clear that one of grandma\u2019s primary roles, as far as they\u2019re concerned, is to read to them. In fact, any time I sit down, it\u2019s all but guaranteed one or more of them will approach with a book.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1977\" src=\"https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kmccullough.com\/kblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Reading2.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0While they have favorites, pretty much any reading material aimed at kids will do. We can go from <em>Where the Wild Things Are<\/em> to <em>Science Concepts for Kids<\/em> to <em>Night Night Construction Site<\/em> to the <em>Sesame Street Alphabet Book<\/em>. It\u2019s all good.<\/p>\n<p>The two-year-old is insatiable. He\u2019ll beg for book after book, grabbing them off the shelf one after another. When I say \u201cenough,\u201d he\u2019ll give me the big-eyes, how-can-you-say-no-to-this? look. And I melt.
